A GOBOWEN care home continues to provide ‘good’ housing and nursing care for its residents, according to a recent inspection.
Meadowbrook Care Home, in Twmpath Lane, scored a ‘good’ rating in a recent report from the Care Quality Commission.
The officers said they had taken on the inspection amid concerns over a specific issue, but came away from the unannounced visit happy with the standards of care.
The report read: “We undertook this targeted inspection to check on a specific concern we had about the care and welfare of people.

“The overall rating for the service has not changed following this targeted inspection and remains good.”
Meadowbrook Care Home is a care home providing personal and nursing care to a maximum of 69 people.
At the time of the inspection, 61 people were using the service including people living with dementia.
The inspectors noted: “The provider had systems in place to protect people from risk.
“Personalised risk assessments had been written for the people living there covering a range of risk including eating and drinking, skin care and mobility.
“Each person had a personal evacuation plan which detailed the support they needed should they need to be evacuated in the event of an emergency.
“There were regular checks on the environment and equipment used by people had been regularly serviced to ensure they remained safe for people to use.”
At the time of the impromptu investigation a registered manager, required for care homes as they manage the service, was in the process of being enrolled.
During the inspection they also talked with people living in the nursing home and staff.
The inspectors noted: “People felt safe living at the home and with the staff who supported them.
“Risks to people were assessed and there were plans in place to mitigate risks.”
They concluded that the care home is “safe”.
Inspectors added: “This means we looked for evidence that people were protected from abuse and avoidable harm.
“At the last inspection this key question was rated as “Good”.
“We have not changed the rating of this key question, as we have only looked at the part of the key question we had specific concerns about.
“The purpose of this inspection was to explore the specific concerns we had about Meadowbrook Care Home.”
