A yellow weather warning has been issued for the Oswestry area.

The warning of "persistent and at times heavy rain" was issued by the Met Office from the early hours of Friday morning (October 19) until Saturday.

The bad weather is expected to affect the whole of north Shropshire including the entire of Oswestry and the surrounding area.

The Met office are warning that the downpour could lead to "fast flowing or deep floodwater is possible, causing a danger to life."

They said this could see "homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings". They have warned that "some communities may be cut off by flooded roads".

The Met Office are warning people trying to travel in this time that there could be "delays or cancellations to train and bus services are possible".

There has also been a warning to motorists that "spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures."

They have also said that it is "possible" that there could be "power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses".
