CHIRK AAA fell to a 3-2 defeat at Caersws to remain rooted to the foot of the JD Cymru North table on Saturday.

The villagers went into the game following a tough week following the departure of long-serving joint-manager Mark Griffiths in midweek.

The Colliers began the brighter and led through Louie Middlehurst’s eighth minute opener only for Ashton Williams to put through his own net five minutes later with Neil Mitchell firing the Bluebirds ahead after half an hour.

Callum Graybrook extended the hosts’ lead with 20 minutes remaining before Matty Williams saw red for Chirk who reduced the arrears late on through Jack Edwards.

Llansantffraid had to be content with a point in a 2-2 draw at Llanuwchllyn on Saturday.

Sam Evans’ own goal gave the Saints the lead before Meilir Williams levelled for the hosts from the spot before the break.

Liam Pickstock restored Llansantffraid’s lead just after the interval only for a second penalty from Williams late on to snatch the home side a point.

Four Crosses came out on top in a 4-3 thriller at Waterloo Rovers to seal their place in the third round of the Central Wales Cup on Saturday.

Ryan Ellis fired the hosts into an early lead only for Crosses to hit back and lead with goals from Joe Wilkinson and Jacob Edwards before Tom Ellis struck to restore parity before the break.
