A LOCAL artist has her British wildlife paintings on display at Chirk Library until next week, and promises to return in May.

Trish Sheil, a retired Chirk-born woman with a background in film, has come back to the area to retire, and decided to give painting a try, after years of having a hidden passion for it.

Trish now lives in Llangollen, where she went to school, and has started painting birds and mammals on cards just as a hobby, for friends and family.

The artist explains that she came back to the area after being away for a really long time living in Cambridge where she worked and did her research.

She said: "I was a trained teacher and I did my post-grad research in film, but I always loved art.

"I loved art at school, but then went on to do English Literature and film.

"I never really had the time to explore my passion for art."

Trish first started to pay attention to the wildlife around her when she was little, as her father , a miner from Chirk, was a bird-lover, and had an aviary in their back garden full of bright yellow Canaries, and people would often come to their house to bring injured birds for her dad to heal.

She continued: "I love life and nature, and I think all that has come out about climate change and dangers to animals has made people affraid of enjoying it all.

"So I decided that my water-colour paintings will be all about the details in every brush stroke, and not just a sketch."

For the first four years since Trish has started exploring her passion she gave her art to her family and friends , but now she has expanded to selling prints of her work that are now at Chirk Library.

OTHER NEWS:

"This was the first time I have put them all up and seen them side by side, it is definitely a unforgettable moment" she added.

Although Trish's display will be done on March 3, she is promising to come back with more in May.
