Cardiff Met 3 TNS 2

TNS fell to their first league defeat of the season as Cardiff Metropolitan University came from behind to win 3-2 at Cyncoed on Saturday.

The Saints raced into a two goal lead inside the opening 12 minutes and it had looked like business as usual for the runaway JD Cymru Premier leaders.

The Saints took just seven minutes to break the deadlock with the opening goal arriving courtesy of Leo Smith after being released by Adam Smith.

Five minutes later the league leaders were celebrating again as Smith squared the ball across the box for Wilson to convert at the back post.

Ryan Brobbel fired over as the Saints came close to a third before the Archers mustered a chance of their own with Chris Craven forcing goalkeeper Connor Roberts into action.

OTHER NEWS:

Nine minutes before the break the home side were back into the match when Chris Baker tapped the ball home from just outside the six yard box following a well-worked move.

Christian Edwards’ side were back on level terms with 63 minutes on the clock Sam Jones broke down the left wing and crossed for Elliott Evans to convert at the far post.

Disaster struck for the champions four minutes later when Baker pounced on a loose ball and picked out the bottom left corner of the net from just outside the box.

Despite their continuous attempts at finding an equaliser the Oswestrians tasted defeat in the league for the first time this season.
