OSWESTRY treated their supporters to an early Christmas present with an 86-10 thrashing of Rugeley in division two of the Counties Midlands West League on Saturday.
The Eagles wasted little time before soaring ahead with young Joe Hodgson showing his pace and skill to out run the defence and open the scoring with Iwan Ellis converting.
In front of a good crowd and travelling supporters Oswestry turned on the style with Cameron Breen charging his way through to score an unconverted try.
Oswestry were starting to dominate the scrum and lineout and it was no surprise when captain Gaz Ellis won the ball and released Sam Woolham who rapidly ran down the wing to score the third try, converted by Iwan Ellis.

Gaz Ellis stole the ball at the line out and from a subsequent breakdown Jacob Jones released Nick Clay who in turn freed Nathan Sumang who showed his football skills by storming over for a try with Iwan Ellis converting.
There was no let up in the pressure with Hodgson crossing for his second try soon after.
Oswestry remarkably scored two tries in five minutes with Dan Smart charging down a clearance to touch down before Sumang crossed for his second try with Iwan Ellis adding the extras.

Remarkably the Eagles added an eighth try before the interval with Jacob Jones crossing the whitewash and Iwan Ellis kicked the conversion.
Oswestry struggled to maintain the high standards after the break and the visitors capitalised with two unconverted tries of their own.
The home side were jolted into action and the impressive Hodgson stormed over for his third try of the game before a pack effort saw Adam Beattie power his way through to score which was converted by Iwan Ellis

Hodgson added his fourth try of the game with Breen crossing for his second before Iwan Ellis crossed the whitewash and added the extras himself to complete a remarkable victory for the dominant Eagles.
Oswestry take a break for the rest of the month and return in January with an away fixture at derby rivals Newport on January 6th.
