SMOKE billowing into the Shropshire sky could be seen all around according to an eyewitness to the Nesscliffe services lorry fire on Tuesday.
Shropshire Fiore and Rescue Service (SFRS) firefighters from Baschurch and Shrewsbury after 6.30pm after reports a light goods vehicle was in flames.
Pictures published to social media by Oswestry station watch manager James Lewis showed the vehicle’s front end completely destroyed within the fuel area at the A5 services.
One eyewitness told The Advertizer that cars passing on the major road could see the lorry fully on fire.

They added: "You could see black smoke billowing up maybe 30 or 40 feet above the services as soon as you came to the roundabout at the Shottaton end of the bypass.
"Once you came to the services themselves there was a lorry blocking the entrance, and you could see that the lorry was completely engulfed in flames."
Mr Lewis added: “A lorry caught fire at a busy A5 service station (on Tuesday) evening.
“The incident was at the Nesscliffe Service Station where plumes of smoke could be seen by passing motorists for some distance.
“Fire crews responded quickly and efficiently to this incident.”
Firefighters used a main foam jet and four hose reel jets to put out the fire while wearing breathing apparatus.

The service station’s fuel pumps and canopy were badly burned during the fire.
Firefighters were at the scene for around two hours before a stop message confirming no further assistance was needed.
